The Center For Communication, located in Springvale, Maine, offers comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic,  and consultative services to those in southern Maine and New Hampshire, enabling individuals of all ages to move beyond the frustrations of impaired or ineffective communication.

We see both children and adults in a variety of settings including our office, local schools, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Communication disorders affect a diverse population, regardless of age, education, or economic status. They also occur in many forms, including the following:

  • A child is late acquiring speech or language
  • An adult loses the ability to communicate as a result of a stroke
  • An individual has a swallowing disorder following a traumatic brain injury, stroke, or progressive neurological disease
  • A professional singer or school teacher develops a voice disorder from overuse or injury
  • A student’s stuttering interferes with his/her ability
    to speak in class
  • A child is a grade level behind in his/her ability to
read aloud or understand the content of what is read
  • A student struggles to make and maintain friendships as a result of a social pragmatic disorder
